These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Jurnalr Android app, provided by Sepa-Rated Solutions ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using Jurnalr, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Jurnalr. Jurnalr is not directed to children under 13, and if you are under 18 you should have a parent or guardian's permission to use it.
Your Account
You can use Jurnalr in Guest mode without creating an account — everything stays on your device. If you choose to create an account (via Google Sign-In or email and password), you're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Tell us right away at evan@sepa-rated.ca if you believe your account has been compromised.
Acceptable Use
When using Jurnalr, you agree not to:
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or bypass the app's security or encryption
- Attempt to circumvent, defraud, or abuse the subscription/billing system
- Interfere with or disrupt the app, its servers, or its infrastructure
- Use the app to store or transmit content that is illegal in your jurisdiction
Your journal entries are yours. We do not read, review, or moderate your private journal content, and we have no ability to do so beyond what's described in our Privacy Policy.
Community Guidelines
Community Suggestions is a public board, inside the app, where signed-in users can post feature ideas and vote on other users' suggestions. Guests can read the board but can't post or vote. Posting requires accepting these guidelines:
- Be kind and constructive.
- Don't post personal information — yours or anyone else's (no names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, or other identifying details).
- No harassment, hate speech, sexual content, or threats of any kind.
- No spam or advertising.
Posts and votes are shown under an anonymized handle (like "Journaler-7f3a") derived from your account — never your name or email. Posts are public within the app and may be removed at our discretion, including in response to a report. Every post can be reported or blocked; we review reports and may hide or remove posts, and may reply to a post with a "Developer response." Repeated or serious violations of these guidelines may result in suspension or termination of your access to Community Suggestions, or to Jurnalr generally, as described under Termination below.
Subscriptions, Trials & Cancellation
Jurnalr offers a free tier (up to 30 journal entries per month) and a Premium subscription, sold through Google Play Billing as a monthly or yearly plan, each with a 14-day free trial. Google Play requires a valid payment method on file to start a free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription automatically renews and you will be charged the plan's regular price on a recurring basis until cancelled.
Premium removes the monthly entry limit, and adds PDF/CSV export and all 8 color themes.
You can cancel anytime through Google Play (Play Store app → Payments & subscriptions → Jurnalr → Cancel). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not process refunds directly — refunds are handled by Google Play under its own policies.
AI Insights
Jurnalr offers an optional, opt-in AI insights feature (see our Privacy Policy for full detail on how it works and what's sent). When it's on, the text of your new entries is analyzed by a third-party AI model — Anthropic's Claude — to produce mood, achievement, and theme insights and a one-sentence summary. When it's off, insights come from an on-device engine instead. Either way, these outputs are generated automatically, may be inaccurate, incomplete, or occasionally strange, and are not medical, psychological, or professional advice of any kind (see "Not Medical Advice" below). You can turn AI insights on or off anytime in Settings.
Not Medical Advice
The mood, achievement, and pattern insights Jurnalr shows you are generated automatically — either by an on-device engine, or, if you turn on AI insights, by Anthropic's Claude — and may be inaccurate. They are not a diagnosis, treatment, or professional opinion of any kind, and Jurnalr does not provide therapy, counseling, or crisis support.
If you are in crisis or experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact your local emergency services (such as 911 in the US/Canada) or a crisis hotline in your area right away. Do not rely on Jurnalr for support in a crisis.
Intellectual Property
Jurnalr, its design, logo, and underlying software are owned by Sepa-Rated Solutions and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your journal entries and any content you create in the app remain yours — we claim no ownership over your journal content.
Termination
You may stop using Jurnalr at any time and delete your account as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access to the app if you violate these Terms, though we will make reasonable efforts to notify you first except where not appropriate (for example, in cases of suspected abuse).
Limitation of Liability
Jurnalr is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sepa-Rated Solutions will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to Jurnalr is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including certain consumer-protection rights you may have.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, without affecting any statutory consumer protections you may be entitled to in your own country or region.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date below. Continued use of Jurnalr after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are effective as of September 13, 2026.
